Kaleidoscope Earrings

This was a summer where I made a series of
gigantic, sparkly, beaded bling earrings that
became very popular with other young
indigenous womxn on instagram. They are
definitely trendy statement pieces. I wanted to
share this specific photograph of the
Kaleidoscope Earrings. Oftentimes, indigenous
artwork is placed in old museums and considered
to be “from a peoples’ past.” Or not considered to
be “modern” or “in the present.” I felt it was
important to photograph my earrings on a Yukon
First Nations model to showcase my wearable
art, and that we, along with our artforms, are very
much living in the present.
