Healing Hat

Working under the mentorship of Dorothy Grant I
created this felt hat, in the shape of a traditional
cedar hat. The formline design is that of a
hummingbird, which represents healing. During
this time I was experiencing so much grief, and
isolation from the pandemic. The process of
creating this hat was very healing for me as an
artist. Along with the formline design, the top of
the hat showcases a single beaded flower to
represent hope, abalone shell and attached
ermine pelt.
